Fusion Strike Set Review – Bulk City or Hidden Value?
Released in November 2021, Fusion Strike is best known for two things:
- Being the largest set in Pokémon TCG history
- Being the least respected mainline Sword & Shield release
Overshadowed by Evolving Skies, lacking a Charizard, and flooded with commons, it quickly got labeled as “bulk city.” But in April 2025, the tide might be turning.

- 📦 Fusion Strike had enormous print runs through early 2023
- 📉 Inventory finally tightened in late 2024
- 🧊 Still lags behind comparable SWSH sets in resale strength
📊 What’s Working
- 🧬 Mew + Gengar have massive fan bases and strong art
- 🧠 Competitive relevance of Fusion Strike battle-style cards kept the format alive
- 🪙 Undervalued sealed boxes offer decent rip value today
🧊 What’s Not
- 📏 Too big — pull rates felt diluted, frustrating casual rippers
- 🔁 Low “wow factor” compared to Evolving Skies, Lost Origin, etc.
- 🗃️ Too much filler — many rares and V cards never held value
🧮 Set Comparison (April 2025)
| Set | Chase Strength | Sealed Value | Collector Depth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fusion Strike | 🟡 Decent (Mew, Gengar) | 🟡 Stable-ish | 🟡 Meh |
| Lost Origin | 🟢 Strong (Giratina, Aerodactyl) | 🟢 Solid | 🟢 Strong |
| Brilliant Stars | 🟢 Charizard & Arceus | 🟢 Moderate | 🟢 Well-liked |
Fusion Strike is no longer a bad set — but it’s not a top-tier collector favorite either. It’s a mid-tier set with 2–3 strong hits and a massive amount of noise.
🧵 Final Thoughts
Fusion Strike still suffers from its early reputation, but under the surface, there’s value for the patient collector — especially in graded Mew and Gengar plays.
As sealed boxes dry up and PSA pops level off, this may quietly become the underdog winner of Sword & Shield’s second half — not flashy, but functional.
